Let There Be Light...

...and a furnace, and cold refrigerator, and a coffee maker, and a microwave. Let me introduce you to our newest friend - or should I say our "Guardian". Never again will we be without power- when AEP takes nine days to get it fixed! ( This is what we went through as recent at September!) We had it installed today, and it will come on if the power is off more than 30 seconds. It will run everything in our house except the stove/oven - but I still can use a microwave. At least it will allow us to keep the house warm in winter outages, and full refrigerators cold in the summer. So to all my friends and family, you are ALL welcome to come here, the next time you are in the dark (even bring your pets).
And now...a drum roll please ..............................

The WINTER STORM '09 HILLJACK AWARD goes to:
How unbelievably absurd it this?! Please feel free to click on the photos, so that you can be sure and see all the absurdness a little clearer! Standing in our driveway, I see this sight coming down the ice covered road.....a man driving his Rascal (bet it didn't cost him one red cent) IN the street, and pulling a child on a plastic sled that is tied to said Rascal! In semi-hysterical amazement, I headed into the house to grab the camera, knowing this moron would make at least one more pass. He did not disappoint me! As I ran out into the yard to get a better picture, he made a sharp turn for the sidewalk (hence the child being flung the the street's center). I'm not sure if its because he saw me taking the picture, or if he saw a car that needed to use the street.
The picture below shows them heading for home....ON the sidewalk. Isn't it great to see what he uses a machine his insurance and Medicare probably paid for? Or better yet, Medicaid probably bought this for him...on our behalf!
Ya know, I really try not to make fun of my fellowman - but you're not leaving me much choice here.
