OK, so I haven't fallen off the face of the earth (sorry, in-laws...lol), but time has zipped by at warp speed! Bella has kept us very busy. That, along with my recent addiction to a Facebook game called Farm Town, has kept us occupied.
Our most recent travels have taken us to The Ohio State Fair. The parking system is marked by color and letter - and as any 12 yr old at heart would understand, our parking row was the "piece d 'resistance". Get it? This took me back to a time when, as a kid, it was always my job to remember where we parked at any event. I am sure at least one of my parents made the same mental note, but I felt "all important" being assigned such an important task. Only one other time, were we ever fortunate to park in this row...and I giggle about it both time!

I can die now (and probably will from a deep-fried coronary) having had these, but probably wouldn't eat them again. I love Buckeye candies, but this lily doesn't need gilded. But, isn't part of the fun going to fairs/festivals eating the UNhealthy food? For dinner, I sampled fried raviolis, mac-n-cheese bites, a meatball, and mashed potato balls. Anngghh, I think I will just stick with my usual corndog and vinegar fries.
For other Ohioians, do you remember what a HUGE deal the State Fair used to be? All the tv stations had their broadcasts, and all the radio stations broadcast live, as well. There was Flippo Theater live shots, and those station pavilions had variety act show in between broadcasts. Sadly, over the years, this has all disappeared. Wow, as a kid, you could hardly "get through everything" in one day! And I never rode the rides or played midway games, either. Most years, we went two days...and the fair was three weeks long! This year, we got through it in 3-1/2 hrs - but, we didn't go into the animal barns.
Oh, but I am now the proud owner of a Sham-Wow!...and probably five extra pounds.

Val, I am with you. Things just are not the same anymore with the state fair, OR for our local fairs for that matter! What a shame, that the things that meant so much to us "in the day" mean very little to the new generation today. On another note,,, Farm Town,,, need a neighbor? Lewis is ADDICTED thanks to his big sister Diana! :o) I know enough to stay away from that,, I don't need another pc addiction. :o) I love your blogs, you are an awesome writer! Audrey
