Duck on a Fence

When I whipped open our bedroom curtains this morning, hearing a noisy commotion - this is what I found...
Some of what entertains me the most about nature, is what drives animals to do what they do. This "little lady" was holding court with her beaus, and I supposed she felt this was best done standing atop a 4-ft fence! On the other side of this fence is a creek, where she has been keeping company with two "fellas" lately. We have had batches of baby ducks for the past several years - and occasionally two batches. I SO hope she has a good batch this year, and I get some cute pics to share.

This sight has caused the latest bunch of questions and head shaking with the neighbors. We are taking down the side length and gates, of chain link fence, and replacing it with a 6ft cedar privacy side fences. We had to have a survey done, since one neighbor doesn't think the property line is exactly where it is! Plus, we are moving the new section to sit "on" the line (where the pink flag is), which buys us 5 more ft.The back fence remains , since it opens up to a 12 acre field - that seems to the a big draw for all the critters.
I know the fence project is no big deal, but I am sure it will lend to more discussions and create some projects I can share.
I am off to watch more NCAA Tourney games. So far, my bracket is well intact - I am 10 for 12 so far.
Tomorrow, Ohio State plays - - - GO BUCKS! Maybe I should go cheer for them from the top of a fence...
