Voodoo Fence

It would not surprise me to find this voodoo shrine at my neighbors' house.

Super long story short, we found water in our basement during a recent storm. Come to find, water was shooting our of our underground drain at the downspout connection - causing the pool of water at the foundation to visit the basement. Yadda, yadda, emptied the wet room, dried out carpet, tore out wet pad, disinfected, AND found the problem:
Do you see the double posts to the left? These are gate posts, and the black drain USED to run right through them. The fence installers apparently shredded the drainpipe with the hole drilling auger (also filled with cement), which caused the drain to be a big block! Now, when the rains came, and rolled off the roof, there was no were for the water to go...except my craft room. So the new drain had to be rerouted around the posts, so that it can connect up with the back drain and continue on to the creek.

While we were making repairs today, the old crazy neighbor lady brought the hillbilly neighbor lady with her to enjoy our problem. I threw up my hands as if to say "What?!" and they just stood here chattering and pointing. Really?

The first trailer of dirt came today. It was 1.6 tons. For any of you who have worked with topsoil, know that it doesn't go far. We will probably have to get three loads like this. Only took us a couple of hours to unload. Shovel - wheelbarrow - dump. Repeat.

Now, I better go search for that anecdote of fence hexes.
