all the Hoop-la!

OH! The Bucks are looking good!!!

I should post a season long disclaimer right now: My basketball comments/opinions are based on many things. I do not claim to know enough to be on ESPN, but chat about what I see/think - however skewed it may be.

That being said, I was happy to see a team that hustled... all-night-long! This team didn't just stand around "waiting for the ball to come to you" (cough*last year*cough).

This picture is of Evan Turner (returning Jr.), taken during warm-ups. I just take lots of these moving shots, and love it when I get something like this. A note on this picture: we were sitting 100 feet way from the action - I just had my little camera, which was zoomed in, and flash turned off . When I cropped it with my photo program, I was pretty happy - considering. (click all pics for larger image)

This shot is when the team concluded warm-ups, and were ready to return to the locker room.
I think the "star" this year will be B.J. Mullens. He is a 7ft tall kid, who looks exactly like Lurch, from the Adamms Family tv show. But he moves very quick for a Big Man.

I also find myself liking #2 Jeremie Simmons, and #44 William Buford.

But, as silly as it sounds, it always takes me a couple of games, to get over being homesick for "last year's boys".

This was after team introductions (quite the lighting production), and they rock back/forth in the huddle. I loved it when I viewed these pics, and could actually see them laughing and screaming....."together". They seem to really like each other.

Next Thursday (Nov 20th) the official season begins, and they play at the old St. John's Arena. I have only been there once before, and the lighting there is dimmer, so I'm not sure what good snaps I will get (since flashes have to be off during play).

On Sunday, we are off to Athens, Ohio - to see Ohio University basketball play. Steve graduated from O.U., so we always love going down there. It is a beautiful campus. The new head coach is Jim Groce.....who came from Ohio State as an assistant coach under Thad Matta. I wish him all the luck and fortune he had here at OSU!! Go Bobcats!

I am working on a quick (and funny) post for tomorrow. Hope to see you then.
